Yes — JPG uses lossy compression, so some detail is sacrificed for a smaller file. At 85–90% quality, the difference is imperceptible for photographs. For graphics with sharp edges, text, or solid colors, quality loss may be more noticeable.

JPG does not support transparency. Transparent areas are automatically filled with a white background during conversion. If you need to keep transparency, use WebP or PNG instead.

To reduce file size. A photographic PNG can be 5–10x larger than its JPG equivalent. Smaller files load faster and use less storage, which is important for websites, email attachments, and sharing.

There is no hard limit. The conversion runs in your browser, so very large files (50MB+) may slow down based on your device's available RAM. Most images convert in under a second.

Yes. The quality slider lets you choose from 1% (maximum compression, lowest quality) to 100% (minimum compression, highest quality). 80–90% is recommended for photos.
