JPG Conversion Errors - Compression, Artifacts, and Save Fixes
Troubleshoot JPG conversion issues like visible artifacts, washed-out images, unsupported uploads, and wrong quality settings.
Why does my JPG have blocky artifacts?
JPG is a lossy format. If the quality level is too low or the image has been re-saved multiple times, compression artifacts become visible around edges and details.
Why does my JPG look worse after another conversion?
Repeated JPG re-encoding compounds quality loss. If you plan to edit or convert again, move into PNG or TIFF first and only export to JPG at the final step.
Why did my JPG upload fail even though the extension is correct?
Some uploads fail because the underlying file is corrupt, mislabeled, or contains unsupported metadata. A correct .jpg extension alone does not guarantee a valid JPEG file.
Why are colors or contrast different in the converted JPG?
JPG output can shift if color profiles are stripped or if the image is re-encoded with different color handling. High compression can also make gradients and shadows look flatter.
Is JPG good for text and logos?
Usually no. JPG is best for photos. Text, logos, screenshots, and UI graphics generally look cleaner in PNG or SVG.
What quality setting is usually safe for JPG?
A medium-high quality setting is usually the safest balance. Extremely low settings reduce file size, but the visual damage becomes obvious very quickly.
