Video Conversion Errors - Codec, Quality, and Playback Fixes

Troubleshoot video conversion problems such as black screens, missing audio, giant files, and unsupported playback.

Why does my converted video have no audio?

This can happen when the source has multiple audio streams, an unsupported audio codec, or a failed stream mapping during conversion. Test the original in a player like VLC to confirm the source audio is intact.

Why is there audio but no video?

The video codec may not be supported by your player or browser, even if the container opens. A file can be .mp4 and still use a codec your device cannot decode.

Why is my converted video blurry?

Blur usually comes from lowering bitrate too much, resizing to a smaller resolution, or re-encoding multiple times. For cleaner output, keep the original resolution and use a reasonable bitrate.

Why did the file size get bigger after conversion?

Bigger output means the target codec, bitrate, or resolution was less efficient than the original. Converting a highly compressed source into a less efficient setting can easily inflate file size.

Why does the video stutter after conversion?

Stutter can come from unsupported frame rates, very high bitrate, poor hardware decoding support, or broken timing metadata. Try more standard settings like H.264 in MP4 with common frame rates such as 24, 30, or 60 fps.

What video format is safest for compatibility?

MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio is still the safest general-purpose option for browsers, phones, and most desktop apps.
